Keeping Kids World Afloat

A Site Needing A LOT of Work!

After just recently reviving Hartville Outdoor Products online, the other business, Kids World needed attention as well. Hartville needed a massive makeover that required a new website to be developed. Kids World looked okay enough to at least keep up for a couple of years. The key difference from Hartville Outdoor Products and Kids World is that Kids World actually has an ECommerce platform and with that being said, a new build will take longer. Hartville just has you calling them for a price or sending a form submission online to their sales team to discuss a product for the time being. You can actually buy things on the Kids World website so this needed a lot of attention.

Once Hartville launched and we met, we had a handful of wishlist things for Kids World. Although we were determined to get started on it, I found so many issues on the website on a backend sense and needed to update the code immediately. I got right on that and cleared 154 PHP Warnings, 3 Fatal Errors that would appear if I updated the site to the latest versions of WordPress, PHP and MYSQL. I also upgraded the security practices around their Database and Purchasing Process so customers were even more protected than they already were with their SSL Certificate. I also needed to clear 887 JavaScript errors and warnings printed out in the client-side console on the website. Once that was done, which took me about a week, I got right to work on their requests.

I made an outstanding number of things that needed to be completed to fruition though a short period of time. I upgraded their Showrooms and Specials Page and added a Request a Quote page with a new form integrated that would compliment the customer’s needs before they were to purchase an item online. I added a Delivery Options for purchasing options using Gravity Forms on the website and integrated it for their Basketball Hoops and Trampolines.

If you use the Delivery Options, it updates the price. I really love Gravity Forms assists when I develop quick solutions for customers as it can be extremely helpful for customers like this. It is a secure and great proven process that is quick and efficient.

I then changed some styling on the pages as well such as adding the playful font on the buttons on the site as well. I added a Specials scroll functionality and Top Sellers scroll functionality based on the request from the customer. I then also added a Top Sellers page showcasing the PDF and linked it to the top of their Swing Sets Product Category Feed. I also added Social Media buttons to the footer for SEO purposes.

Another thing I did as well was added a filter to hide filter options that the customer did not anyone to see such as popularity and reviews on WooCommerce products. You can only do that by PHP functions.

I also instantiated a new PHP 7.4 staging server and tested the site on PHP 7.4 and WordPress 5.4 and everything checked out well. I did a sync and the site not only loads faster, but the process of getting to purchasing, shopping and viewing the site is more smoother on a front and back end aspect. Kids World is not only covered, but they also provide premium products for your backyard and what a time to buy things from Kids World right now.

This is why my All-In-One service is so vital for businesses, it keeps your systems secure, updated and at best practice with keeping you at the top of the heap of search engines. I am proud to be a partner for these many accounts that allow me to continue helping them along the way.
